OLYMP brand commitments

The supply chain of the OLYMP brand and the company OLYMP Bezner KG

OLYMP is committed to the continuous improvement of working conditions and environmental standards in global supply chains, through numerous initiatives and organizations in the textile sector, and collaborates with recognized independent certification systems.

The social responsibility of the supplier:

As a successful company in the clothing industry of the 21st century, OLYMP is fully aware of its sustainable responsibility towards its employees, suppliers, producers and customers. The manufacture of OLYMP products is carried out in factories that respect internationally recognized and verifiable social standards according to fair principles.

OLYMP has always been convinced of its entrepreneurial commitment vis-à-vis its employees and partners and takes its social responsibility extremely seriously, mainly at the sites.
of production located abroad. The main effort of the commercial management consists not only in manufacturing irreproachable OLYMP products in human-ecological material of very high quality, but also
that this is the case in partner companies following precisely defined social standards.

To guarantee social standards, the demanding production is carried out by a limited number of well-known, long-standing production partners in Asia and South-East Europe, with whom there has been close and reliable cooperation for almost 40 years.

OLYMP consistently requires its partner companies to generally respect globally recognized, respected and firm social standards. Most of the production is carried out in companies with the SA 8000:2001 qualification certificate according to Social Accountability International (SAI). In addition, OLYMP is committed through its membership of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) to meeting important social standards when manufacturing its products. Alongside labor protection measures, particularly the regulation of working time, they also include reasonable remuneration,
humane working conditions, the provision of health and social facilities and the clear prohibition of any form of child labour, forced labor or discrimination. Compliance with social standards is regularly monitored and audited by independent control institutions.

On site, in the clothing companies, OLYMP's own employees also monitor compliance with quality criteria and working conditions through their permanent presence. In the event of any inconveniences, it is possible to intervene directly or indirectly in the sense of the company philosophy. In addition, OLYMP's sales department personally visits each of the sites several times a year to check production conditions.

OLYMP guarantees compliance with clearly defined social standards and humane working conditions through the almost exclusively direct import of products, perfect transparency of the supply chain, its local presence in production companies and its responsible and lasting relationships with carefully selected partners.

  • OLYMP joined the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) in 2018 for ecological and socially responsible cotton production while guaranteeing the high technical and quality standards of our products.

OLYMP brand products:

In the 21st century, modern textiles have to meet very strict requirements of all kinds. Modern clothing should be distinguished by long-lasting color brilliance, offer high wearing comfort and be hard-wearing, easy-care and wrinkle-resistant. These quality criteria and many other functional properties of textiles are quite naturally required today and are even essential depending on the use. The varied demands of critical consumers regarding textile and clothing products cannot be satisfied without the use of certain chemical substances.

For this reason, OLYMP Bezner KG mainly uses natural fibers from renewable raw materials such as cotton, wool, silk or cashmere for its high-quality products, which are particularly breathable and pleasant to the skin. To achieve the desired and necessary textile properties, the fibers / fabrics are subjected to chemical ennobling processes that are continuously optimized by their permanent development and in cooperation with renowned textile companies in order to be perfectly adapted to the special requirements of the target group. OLYMP.

In addition to uncompromising quality and maximum safety and transparency, OLYMP also strives to offer perfectly healthy clothing to customers who purchase a product from the OLYMP company. OLYMP products must meet extensive human ecology requirements and are largely certified according to the Öeko-Tex® 100 standard. The Öeko-Tex® certificate is only granted to a garment when all other materials and all other components from all suppliers meet these strict definitions and are also certified. The scientifically based parameters that independent testing institutes of the Öeko-Tex® community, such as the nationwide renowned Textile Research Institute (Hohenstein Textile Testing Institute GmbH & Co. KG) from Bönnigheim (Baden-Württemberg), apply for regular testing for harmful substances and compatibility, have been fulfilled by OLYMP since 1995 with absolute and uninterrupted reliability.

The Öeko-Tex® Standard 100 is an independent certification system for textiles tested for harmful substances, the criteria for which are usually significantly stricter than the provisions of the law. The Öeko-Tex® Standard 100 not only excludes prohibited substances such as carcinogenic AZO dyes, but also materials with a negative influence on health and suspects for which there are no binding legal regulations. In many cases, OLYMP is even well below the thresholds set by the Öeko-Tex® standard 100. The Öeko-Tex® criteria catalog also includes other parameters such as good color fastness or a pleasant pH value to the skin.

Cotton is one of the main raw materials for OLYMP manufacturing, so OLYMP Bezner KG has been a member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) since 2018 and now buys nearly 80% of the cotton in its products through this intermediary, pledge of strong involvement in sustainable and fair production.
